summer bounty

We have had quite a few meals that look like this during the past month. I am not one to post much about food, but food has been a creative outlet lately so I wanted to put this on record to remind us of the good food we had at home this summer. Tonight's dinner was Dungeness crab, green salad, green beans, carrots and buttermilk biscuits. The crab was caught by Nana and Grampy on the Hood Canal and we marinade it in the shell for as long (or little as we like) with olive oil, fresh chopped garlic and either minced basil or cilantro. It's Nana E's recipe found in the old church cookbook. The biscuits take minutes to make and a few more to cook and are so good warm and so good to soak up all the left over olive oil, garlic herb mixture at the bottom of the crab bowl. We usually just use a crusty artisan bread but we didn't have any on hand this evening. Nothing special about the salad or beans - we are just enjoying the fresh veggies while we can (and the fresh raspberries).
