morning at the beach

I never imagined that Michigan beaches would be this beautiful. Covered in snow and ice for much of the year it suprises me every time we visit to see the white sand and green grass and dunes go on for miles. The lake water is really too cold for swimming in June but honestly we didn't mind, there was plenty to do onshore. Over the course of the morning we shed our sweatshirts and leggings, shirts and one little M ran around bare bottom for awhile.

The kids and I looked for flat rocks and zebra mussel shells and made a few mosaics in the sand while we sunned ourselves. But this was our only and last visit to the Michigan beach this summer. We are headed home to the NW soon (again - soon:) and the beaches there look so very different but are equally as beautiful.
