space

This is a space that has been created on the steps on the leeward side of our condo, leading down to our front door. It is a shelter for a group of survivors who washed up on a deserted island. Its part of a game, that is an amalgamation of Box Car Children, Man Vs. Wild, Swiss Family Robinson. There are cheetahs, whales, howler monkeys, fish, dogs, snakes, children and moms in this game. Not shown is the fire, the coconuts, the water collected from the spring, oh and many weapons used to hunt for food. These days, as the summer break winds down and thoughts of school (and some free time) are on my mind I am thankful for a break from the chaos that three little ones with competing needs, wants, and desires can create. We (yes me too, surprisingly) are all (for a short while) interested in playing, the same game in the same space without much of the normal challenges posed by a near 4 year old and 6 year old and tired mom.
