Our first summer at my parents place on the Hood Canal, summer of 2000, we caught what seemed to be hundreds of dungeness crab. I don't have our catch records but I just remember eating lots and lots of crab that summer and the next 3-4 summers. Since then we have been a little busier and maybe haven't dropped as many pots and so we haven't eaten that much crab. This year our first pot drop was this past weekend - August! Luckily we didn't come up empty handed. Two smallish crabs came up in one pot - enough to feed the four crab eaters in the house.
